Fall 2016 Welcome from the Dean of Students

Aloha and welcome to the start of the fall 2016 semester!

The Division of Student Affairs will play a significant role in your out-of-class experiences here at Chaminade University. Our staff is committed to creating an inclusive community that will welcome and nurture you during your college career. Look to us for encouragement, assistance, accountability, warmth, and caring. Our goal is to help you not only achieve a degree from an outstanding academic program, but also to help you develop healthy habits and skills for living life to the fullest.

Below you will find some important updates and information that will assist you now and throughout the academic year.

Day undergraduate classes begin on Monday, August 22, 2016.

Go Swords!
Show your Chaminade spirit by supporting our student athletes. As a Chaminde student, your admission to all homes games is FREE with a current, valid CUH ID. For game schedules, visit the Chaminade Athletics website.

Counseling Center and ADA Accommodations
The Chaminade Counseling Center has a new home in the Student Support Services Building, Room 101. Contact Dr. June Yasuhara at (808) 735-4845 or jyasuhar@chaminade.edu, or visit the Counseling Center, Monday-Friday, 9am-7pm.

Bus Pass
Students have an opportunity to purchase a reduced rate Bus pass by completing the U-PASS Bus Pass Application. A Current Chaminade University ID with a current validation sticker is required.

Parking Permit
Applications are available online. Permits may be purchased through the Business Office for cars, motorcycles, and mopeds. Be sure to read the parking policy carefully as rules will be strictly enforced.

Smoking On Campus
Please refer to the Student Handbook to review the smoking policy, including Hawaii State law changes that went into effect in January 2016.

Sunday Student Mass
Mass will now begin at 6:30pm and morning Mass will remain at 10am.

2016-2017 Student Handbooks/Academic Planners
Handbooks are available in the Office of the Dean of Students, Henry Hall, Room 221. The handbook may also be viewed online.

Student Health Insurance
Plans are available for purchase. View plan information online or contact Arikka Johnson, in the Counseling Center, at (808) 739-4603, for assistance.

Campus Events
Be sure to stay up-to-date on what is happening around campus by viewing the campus events calendar. There are some exciting events taking place during Welcome Week (first week of classes) and beyond. Don’t miss out!

Academic Advising, career planning, and more!
Get a jump start on your success at Chaminade and beyond by visiting with an Advisor in the Office of Retention, Advising, and Career Preparation. You can also get assistance with searching for an on-campus job.  The office is located in Clarence T.C. Ching Hall, Room 252.

Tutoring Services
Tutoring is available for free to all day undergraduate students, both in-person and online. The Chaminade Tutoring Center is located in the Student Support Services Building.

Student ID’s
A CUH ID is required for entry to some venues and to purchase a parking permit or Bus pass. If you need a new or replacement ID, stop by Client Services on the lower level of the Sullivan Family Library.

CUH E-mail
Being informed can lead to your success! Remember to actively use your CUH e-mail account to communicate with faculty and staff in regard to academic matters. Questions/Problems? Contact Client Services at (808) 735-4855.

Housing
Housing is still available in campus residence halls. Contact the Office of Residential Life at (808) 739-4648 for more information.
