This fall the School of Business and Communications will offer a new concentration for its MBA degree. Scott Schroeder, dean of the School of Business and Communications, introduced the new MBA with an Island Business Concentration at a special PACE gathering on August 23 to prospective students.
The Island Business Concentration will focus on the development of business and leadership abilities through a multi-disciplinary approach and immerse participants in island issues, situations and experiences. It will draw on areas including environmental science, community development, history and culture, spirituality in a balanced way. Its action learning approach aims to prepare participants to lead organizations in island environments.
According to officials at Chaminade’s School of Business and Communications, the vision is to be able to integrate business with community, environment and place. The goal of this innovative model of business education is to serve in particular Hawaii and the island environments of the Pacific, as well as Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders.
