Peter Rowan and Brianna Georgia
Recently students with the Hogan Entrepreneurial Program had the privilege to hear from Peter Rowan, writer, entrepreneur, and educator. Rowan was the former Corporate Vice President of New Ventures at Coinstar and former President of T3Media. He is credited with building the ubiquitous Redbox-movie dispenser found in supermarkets all over the world! Currently, Mr. Rowan is the instructor for our Hogan ENT 401 class, a lecturer at Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and an Angel-in-Residence at XLR8UH.
Rowan shared stories and experiences all young entrepreneurs could relate to. His advice was to be diverse, overcome the fear of failing, listen to customer feedback, and believe in your “ideas.” He emphasized how adversities lead to success, and how you handle challenges shapes who you are. Do not be afraid to fail as it is an opportunity to learn and grow. The fear of failing only prevents you from trying and without trying, you will not reach your goals and dreams in life.
Rowan ended his talk by expressing, “A bad idea can become a good idea. Entrepreneurs who execute their 'bad' ideas well can do great things!”
