Local Nurse Leader elected as President for STTI Gamma Psi-at-Large Chapter

(Honolulu, HI) – Dr. Edna Magpantay-Monroe, Associate Professor and Vice Chair for Chaminade University of Honolulu School of Nursing has been elected as President for the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Gamma Psi-at-Large chapter for academic years 2016-2018. The Gamma Psi-at-Large chapter includes Chaminade University of Honolulu, Hawaii Pacific University, University of Hawaii Manoa and University of Hawaii Hilo.

Dr. Magpantay-Monroe was one of the Vice Presidents for the chapter representing Chaminade University of Honolulu for the past 3 years. She is also a member of the Omicron Delta chapter University of Phoenix where she was first inducted as a community leader in 2001. This year, she has been invited as a member of the Psi Beta Chapter, the only approved Sigma Theta Tau International chapter in the Philippines. This chapter belongs to Silliman University in Dumaguete Philippines. Silliman University had a clinical immersion partnerships with Chaminade University from 2013-2015.

She is committed to student excellence, outstanding achievements and contributions to the community. She will be supported by hard working colleagues from all 4 schools and look forward to inducting more student and community leaders in December 2016 and April 2017. There are about 500 active members for this chapter.

For more than 90 years, STTI has strived to meet the mission of advancing world health and celebrating nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service. STTI membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.
